The Women’s Premier League (WPL) consists of 5 teams: Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Gujarat Giants. All of these teams were founded in 2023, and the first WPL cricket was held on March 4, 2023.

Mumbai Indians have the support of some of the most talented all-rounders in the game, and Royal Challengers Bangalore boasts impressive batting power and strategic gameplay. As a result, I predict that the 2025 WPL champion will be either MI or RCB.

Harmanpreet Kaur: Serving as the captain and a middle-order batsman, she usually bats at the 4th or 5th position. She led her team to victory in the first-ever Women’s Premier League (WPL) Championship in 2023. Widely regarded as ‘India’s Captain,’ she truly embodies leadership and excellence.

Nat Sciver-Brunt: An all-rounder, one of the few players who excels as both a middle-order batsman and a bowler. Fans affectionately call her “The Warrior.” She can score runs with the bat and limit the opposition’s runs with her bowling.

Amelia Kerr: Primarily a bowler, she plays as a middle-order batsman in the 5th to 7th positions. Known for her left-arm spin, she has earned the nickname “The Kiwi Star” for her impressive bowling skills.

Richa Ghosh: Besides being a batter, she also takes on the role of wicketkeeper. She often comes in as a batter in the middle or lower order. Born in 2003, Ghosh is a rising star of the new generation. On the field, she’s nicknamed “The Finisher.

RCB (Women’s) 2025 focuses on assembling top-tier batters such as Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, and Sophie Devine, all of whom are explosive players in T20 matches and excel at scoring quickly. 2025 WPL Salary Ranking

The highest-paid player in the 2025 WPL is Simran Shaikh, with an annual income of approximately ₹1.9 million (Gujarat Giants). All-rounder Deandra Dottin earns about ₹1.7 million per year (Gujarat Giants). 2025 WPL Schedule

This year’s WPL matches will all take place at 7:30 PM. The opening match will be held on February 14, 2025, at Vadodara Reliance Stadium. The WPL playoffs will take place on March 13, and the final will be held at Mumbai Wankhede Stadium on March 15.

WPL Match Rules and Format

The 2025 WPL regular season will consist of 20 matches, with 5 teams participating, using the T20 format.

In each match, each team will have 20 overs (a total of 120 legal balls). If a team successfully dismisses 10 batters within those 20 overs, the match will end early. After the 20 overs are completed, the two teams will switch ends.

At the end of the season, the top 3 teams in the points table will qualify for the playoffs.

The team that finishes in 1st place will go straight to the Championship Final! The teams in 2nd and 3rd will battle it out in the semi-finals, and the winner will compete with the top team for the WPL Championship!
