Get to Know T20 Vitality Blast
The T20 Vitality Blast was founded by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003, and the first tournament was held in the same year.
The ECB, established in 1997, replaced the TCCB as the governing body for cricket in England and Wales. Since Wales does not have an independent cricket organization, Glamorgan is directly incorporated into the ECB system, allowing it to participate in major English tournaments, including the T20 Vitality Blast, County Championship, and One-Day Cup.

T20 Blast match rules
The T20 Vitality Blast has a dual-innings format, with each team of 11 players batting 20 overs (120 balls). Bowlers can bowl up to 4 overs (24 balls). The match lasts around 3 hours with a 15-minute break between innings.”
The match must complete 20 overs within 75 minutes; otherwise, the opposing team will be awarded points.
In the event of a tie, the match goes into a Super Over. Each team sends 3 batters and 1 bowler to play 1 over (6 balls) to determine the winner. If the score is still tied, a second Super Over is played until a winner is determined.
T20 Blast format explained
The T20 Vitality Blast features 18 teams, divided into two groups: North and South, with 9 teams in each. The tournament consists of two stages: the Group Stage and the Knockout Stage. There are 126 matches in the group stage, with 63 matches in both the North and South groups.
In the group stage, each group (North and South) selects the top four teams based on the points table, totaling 8 teams advancing to the Knockout Stage.
The Knockout Stage is divided into the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Final.
In the Quarterfinals, the 1st place team in each group plays against the 4th place team, and the 2nd place team faces the 3rd place team. The winners advance to the Semifinals.
The 2 teams from each group that reach the Semifinals will compete for a spot in the Final! The final 2 winning teams will battle for the 🏆 T20 Vitality Blast Championship.
